How to use the Edge Offset tool
The Edge Offset tool, available from the toolbar, is used to customise your buildable zones and create a non-buildable "padding" around the perimeter of your zones.
After selecting the Edge Offset icon (highlighted in purple above), click on a zone to start defining offset boundaries. You have two options to do so:
- Select and drag the square handle in the middle of an edge,
- Key in an absolute value in the corresponding text box. Precision is one decimal.
If the link icon is selected (highlighted in green, see screenshot below), all edge offsets of the selected zone will be synchronised.
Unselect the link icon to define an offset boundary on a single edge.
The resulting offset boundaries are shown in yellow.
Please note:
- If the offset boundaries are uniform across all edges of a zone, slicing a zone in two will maintain the Edge Offset settings. Otherwise, all offset properties on the zone are automatically reset to 0.
- If the offset boundaries are uniform across all edges of two adjacent zones, merging the zones will maintain the Edge Offset settings. Otherwise, all offset properties of the zones are automatically reset to 0.
- If a zone is edited and a new edge is introduced, all offset properties of the zone are automatically reset to 0.
- Edge Offset is not available for Exclusion zones.
Different offset boundaries can be applied for all edges of each zone independently, as shown in the screenshot below.
Example
The site below has been defined with a 12m Building Separation, two Buildable zones separated by an Exclusion zone, and no offset boundaries.
Now, offset boundaries have been applied across the external edges of each Buildable zones.
